No. It is made from thickened stainless steel on a wide, flat base, so it stays upright with a glass pot lid resting in the side or full-size spoons and spatulas inside. Just avoid very heavy or lopsided items.

Pot lids, ladles, spatulas, wooden spoons, whisks, tongs, chopsticks and even a chopping board. The edges are smooth and rounded, and it works just as well for make-up brushes, paint brushes or pens.

Finally a place for the lid
I keep it right next to the hob. The glass lid stands up in it while I stir, and the drips stay off the worktop.
